Michelle Reti
Customer Services
The information you’re providing has to be 100% accurate — I pride myself on getting it right” says Michelle Reti, C3 Customer Services, who has been with C3 since 2001. She notes that strong customer partnerships are crucial: “You’ve got to have open communication with customers. You need to understand their business, to almost preempt their needs.” And here’s how she sees the C3 attitude: “You’ve got to love coming to work. You have to love what you do!”

Tom Wain
Customer Services Manager
“We are incredibly dedicated to our customers and there’s a real partnership between us. They trust you — and that works both ways,” comments Tom Wain, who works in C3’s Customer Service team. Over 15 years in the industry, including five in London, has given Tom a broad perspective of international best practice. “C3’s doing really well. That creates a positive mood: it’s quite exciting!” He notes that C3 is big enough to offer “very obvious opportunity if you’re prepared to put the work in. There’s real scope to move through the company.”

Floyd Lawson-Hikawai
Acting Leading Hand
“You’re not doing the same thing day in and day out,” says Floyd Lawson-Hikawai, who works in C3’s steel warehouse. “After the steel train is done, it’s different each day.” Floyd joined the steel warehouse team in the mid-1990s, before moving into marshalling, then the gear store — and back into steel. ”You’re not stuck where you are, you can move round the yard,” he observes. “I’ve been round the place a bit!”

Murray Payne
Manager Mount Stevedoring & General Cargo
“They’re a good bunch,” says Murray Payne of C3’s stevedores. “They look after each other and they take pride in what they do.” Murray started out as a casual watersider under the hook back in 1994, progressing into the office after about ten years. He’s now C3 Manager – Mount Stevedoring & General Cargo. He says that despite the machinery, stevedores still need to be physically fit. Many of his team have been with C3 for a long time, one for 30 years: “that says it all about how C3 looks after its people.”
